Bible Myth #4: Amen Means “True” or “So Be It”

This a myth because “Amen” is not a Hebrew word.

Amen is an acrostic and is not from any Hebrew root word. The acrostic is: El Melekh Ne’eman, meaning, “God is a Faithful King.”

Enlightening. Please explain/show the acronym’s “breakdown,” letter by letter.

  Thank you for asking. The words are: El Melech N’eman, God is a Faithful King. there is no root for Aleph-Mem-Nun, so the acrostic gives the meaning. A fuller explanation is in the Glossary.
